Irmtraud Huber will be teaching at the University of Konstanz in the Winter term 22/23 and will not be available for thesis supervision.


Irmtraud Huber studied Comparative Literature, English and Theatre Studies in Munich. Before returning to Munich to as a teaching and research fellow in 2018, she worked as a lecturer at the English department of the Universität Bern, where she completed her PhD with a thesis on "Reconstructive Dreams: A Pragmatic Fantastic after Postmodernism" in 2013. Her thesis was awarded with the Helene-Richter Prize of the Deutscher Anglistenverband. With support from the Swiss National Science Foundation she has held Visiting Fellowships at Columbia University, New York, at the University of Cambridge and at Queen Mary College, University of London. She was an Affiliated Postdoctoral Member of Clare Hall, Cambridge and is an Associated Postdoctoral Fellow of the Walter Benjamin Kolleg, Universität Bern. In the summer term 2020 she was a Junior Researcher in Residence at the Center for Advanced Studies LMU. She concluded her habilitation in April 2021 with the manuscript Against Timelessness: Rethinking Poetic Time through Victorian Poetry. Her current research explores interactions between concepts of time and aesthetic form in contemporary culture.
